Hi
I'm about to lay some 20mm stones over a MOT base which will be used as a drive way. Could someone advise me how deep should I lay the stones ? Thanks

lay your gravel then compact the gravel, will make it more stable and useable.

For a driveway 1 ton will cover 15m2 for mulching allow 12m2. Divide the square metreage of your drive by 15 and thats how many tons you need. Happy shovelling.

My grandad (a proper gardener) reckoned you shouldn't have a gravel drive unless you had a man to rake it daily!

Very true John! But sometimes it is the most cost-effective solution.

My 2p worth.. 50mm is too much for a 20mm gravel. If you want to walk and drive over it without it feeling like a gravel trap I'd go for 30mm.. that's enough to cover the MOT and all you'll need.
What type of gravel is it?

not sure of the name, it's just standard run of the mill stones, multi colours.
