Hi all,
I am in the process of laying a small patio, area approx 25m. Initially the garden was sloping towards the rear of the house which has now been leveled and kept in place with a retaining wall, the width of the project and along one side. height difference is about 3 foot. To dig a soak away would require a 3 foot deep hole before I can start to construct a soakaway and i believe the water table to be quite high here.
Two questions, is there web site which details water table height secondly has any one any ideas on how best to drain the patio? (side without retaining wall borders neighbours property) . Any help be appreciated Thanks

Do you have any storm water gullies/downpipes close to the area?

The height of the water table varies from location to location. There is no national map of water table levels other than 'general indicators' which show average levels over larger areas. They will not show the level in your back garden, just as OS maps don't show the path from your back door to the shed.

As for how to drain the site, it's impossible to say without being more familiar with the layout.

I have two downpipes one on a conservatory adjacent to the site and one for the main roof will I be able to 'tap' into those?
