Hi all.

So my dad, in a moment of genius, decided whilst I was away from our refurb project to agree to a PIC for the kitchen and bathroom. Unfortunately, the thing was done by an alcoholic who got his maths wrong, leading to it taking 2 months to complete (over xmas). The damn thing is completely uneven and any water lost when getting out of the shower runs into one corner and sits there, and the seal is crap. Anyway, I'm coming up to having the house valued, and the floor is covered in paint, bits of plaster, tile adhesive etc (I laid plastic to protect the floor, which another astounding contractor felt unnecessary and removed). How can I clean it, given that I live in this house and it has kitchen / bathroom installed?

Thanks

This is a B**tch, first, ask a cleaning professional, or three, and follow THEIR advice. And now I'm going out on a limb! if no luck, lift it all and start again with tiles. If this is not an option, remove as much of the detritus with a plastic scraper, without damaging the surface. Try a dab of petrol/proprietry solvent/thinners on half a brick size in the most remote corner to remove the sealant. Let completely dry. If the stains are water related (lime edging rings/splodges) Use a 5% solution of water/Hydrochloric acid(ADD THE ACID TOTHE WATER, not the other way round) and gently wash the stain away. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses. IF this method shows success work slowly and carefully along the whole floor. Let dry and then find a decent cement sealer to reseal. Having said all that I still think, cut your losses and redo it with something else. Best of luck.
