HI THERE
I had a block drive installed 2 months ago,i have a land drainpipe of 9 mtrs in length running beneath it runs from a long drain at front of drive this was put in by paver, but it does not have a u trap.
Originaly i had a small square drain that had a u trap in it,the paver filled this in and cut into the top of the pipe further along and did not put a trap back,i did question him about this and i was told it would be ok as the drain laid back a little and it had a small amount of water in it.
Is it likely to have smells from it in hot weather.
Appreciate any views on this.

Potential alarmbells ringing could you elaborate is the landrain a perforated pipe and what diametre is the drianpipe installed by your paver. You need a u bend everytime as it the pipe will quickly block with sediment and debris and be a mare to clear. Give as much detail as you can as it's difficult to picture what you're talking about.
Can't see it from my house

If anything drains into a foul run/sewer, it will require a trap, full stop.
If it goes into a SW system, then it is *not always* required - but in the case of a combined system, it would be.

Thanks for replys
iSorry got it wromg about being a land drain it is a solid 410mm pipe that runs directly into main house sewer drain this had a trap which as you say i used to clean debris from.
But the block paving contracor sealed the trap and installed plastic channel & grating line drainage(i think this is what you would call it) looks like a piece of guttering buried in the ground in front of driveway gates, then he cut into top of my original pipe to drain water from plastic channel without replacing u trap.
The reason he put in the plastic channel was the driveway has a fall to the gates from the pavement and we take a lot of water from this, hope this makes it clearer.
thanks again.

Hi
I have called the paver and he tells me he could not put a trap in because there was not enough room to put in a trap,i cant understand why as he raised my gates by about 4 inches as he had raised original drive level,he said he could put a foam yellow thing in to stop the leaves, but he did say he would come back and look at it.
thanks again.

You need a trap, and the contractor should have reconfigured your system to account for this. I can only assume he didnt want to pay for the trap and aco drain attachment .Best of luck and let us know how you get on:)
