Underground drainage - Query about my drainage system

Hi,

I have a query about my drainage system that I hope someone can help with.

The guttering downpipe from the roof of my bungalow connects via a direct connection to a combination drainage system. I am about to start work on a conservatory and down pipe will need to be removed.

What is the best way to remove/block off the underground pipe work? Can you get some sort of plug or do I need to dig out the pipe back to the main pipe line?

The pipes are salt-glazed clayware with collars.

you can get plugs to block off the pipe, but if you are digging out you might as well cut back to a branch outside of the conservatory and cap off. If this is not feasible, then just cut out surface and either insert expanding pressure plug or fit end cap, both of which should be readily available from the major merchants
