Hi fellas,

not sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes.

I am at the slab stage of a summer house at the bottom of my garden, it is 6m x 4m. Thinking ahead I am wondering what the fall gradient should be for a loo and and shower.

The building is 10m away from the main drain, would that be too far? I know the water would find it's way with the shower, but what about waste? From the summer house to the drain, there is a fall of about 2 foot, is that enough or would I need one of those loos that mash it up before sending it down?

Cheers

you need a 1:40 fall for sewarage.
40mm for every Metre. So 10 metres away, you need 400mm min.

But, you need to work out the fall from the depth the pipe will be buried at at the summer house end, to the drain, not the fall from ground level. I assume you will access an existing chamber?

If you bury the pipe just 200mm below ground level, you might just get away with it.

I dare say someone will correct me if i am wrong

This may be useful:

(btw, a 1:40 gradient is 25mm per metre by my reckoning)

and yes it is 250mm fall over 10m
or in old lexicon 10 inches
but dont forget this is from invert to invert ,ground level means nothing
