Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

Hi,I have a car parking area at my home which floods when it rains heavy,it is on a gentle slope which runs towards house,I have no access to run any drains to anywhere, and dont know if there is any drainage from house in car park,is there any solution to this problem, can I simply dig a ditch type drain up the slope a bit ,fill it with large stones etc???? or can you suggest anything else .

You need a site specific answer, Willie. It may be that you simply need to render the parking area more permeable, or you may need a soakaway, but without seeing the site, it's impossible to say what would work best.

Ask at your local Builders' Merchant if they know a drainage contractor and get them to come and take a look.
