My Garden floods terrible! i am in the process of digging it up to lay a patio (25sqm) and have small turfed area (6sqm), i am proposing to lay a sub base and bedding layer for the patio as detailed on this site, my question is whilst i have my garden dug up do you think it would be a good idea to install land drains which will run back to a sump and then pumped away? my garden is lower than my house so i can;t run the land drain to a storm drain but i could pump it ( distance of 8feet)! has anyone any experience on this and advice on materials for the sump / pump.

Regards

Cant see what the garden height has to do with it. Why "8 feet"?

Yep: there's a drawing somewhere showing a sump'n'pump solution for just this problem. Can't bloody find it now, of course, but I'll have more of a look over the weekend.
