Hi all,
I need to put in some proper storm water drainage to my property, which currently has a number of very non-standard arrangements.

My local authority has said I can run the storm water into my 1/5th acre pond. My main problem is that the house was built into a hill and to run the drainage (110mm) I have to negotiate four stone walled terraces.

The deepest terrace is about 1.2m high and the lowest around 800mm high.

So, without building large and deep manholes to drop the required depth to the main drainage run, how can I take water from one level to the next? Obviously, the end result would need to look tidy and unobstrusive.

well you either need a trench the whole way to the pond in a straight line,or can you not tumble the water down waterfall style but inside pipes
i.e. 1 section nearly horizontal,1 section vertical ,etc etc
less digging out the better

maybe a fin drain behind each wall dropping 300 ml below the ground in front of wall. then a perforated pipe wrapped in Terran with a 20ml stone/ shingle surround, the trench to be lined with Terran and covered. repeat this process till you reach your target. to save digging a trench all the way down behind each wall maybe you could slope down to a local try hole. don't forget your 1.2metre would be 1500. so care must be taken as regards collapse. good luck.
