Hello.
I am looking for some information on drainage, would a soakaway be fitted with a clay elbow..? reason is i have a drain on an outhouse that i need to find out whether it is a soakaway or not, directional wise it seems to be running towards the main drain, also i heard that if you leave a hosepipe running into one it would fill up. I have tried the hosepipe method for roughly an hour and it never filled up. Is a camera test really my only sure method of finding out..? I have also checked the house deeds but it isn't shown, neither do the local council have any plans either..?

Thanks

Jason

run your hose and have a look in any man holes you have and try to see the water flowing through

I'd of thought there would be a p trap there. make a dye, milk or something and pore it in then check i c to see if its. flowing there. if it is a bend, maybe, push drain rods as far as they will go then measure to i c. if its different measurement from i c then maybe its a soak away. if you gauge it right you could be lucky with a dig down, or not. good luck.

There are no manholes, its a pre 1930's, to me it seems to run straight towards the main drain, i will try the rods and see..

Thanks
