Hi, John is introduced to this forum by woocus, being a long standing friend of much achievement (woocus writing). I know a lot is written on soakaways and I've looked at it all, but a) to intro john and b) to confirm best practice. John has rebuilt a barn on his farm (properly planned and etc) and turned it from single to double story. To keep the same roof height the Architect had them do the lower floor 1m below natural ground level - sunken bath 7m x 12m about, clay all round. We've dug all round to bottom level and a 30 m channel into the pasture. Our Logic now is to place perforated pipe all round perimeter and run off to pasture. The pipe will be sized to acceptable formula. Ontop/sides of the pipe coarse aggregate working up to fine at ground level. (the concrete sides of the "bath" have been properly sealed). Any comments appreciated.

I think I'll keep the woocus pseudonim (spelling?) for every time I ask a dumb question. AKA Billy Carter-Smith - thanks LLL - the fall is as you say.

did you line trench with terran and also surround pipes in same? . i think 20ml gravel would do< then fold trench lining over the near the top and cover that.

Thks Sean, john has decided to build a channel around the barn with loose slabs on top so that one can sweep the channel at any time it becomes clogged. Then at the end of the channel to dig a pit with a pipe leading into the field. If he changes his mind and reverts to the perforated pipe design I'll look up on the terran.

You'll have more luck looking up "Terram"

Use either the Mini-Pak or BuildA - not the weed barriers.
