Hi. I'm planning to build a concrete sectional building as a workshop and want to place it on a concrete raft over a private drain . The drain is about 4ft deep. Can anyone advise me on how to design the concrete slab (which will run lengthways over the drain). I've been told I should 'span the soft spot' (the drain trench) but am not sure how I should do this. I would be really grateful to anyone who can give me some advice on this. Thank you! Adrian. organised@aol.com

drains deep enough to not be a problem. dig to requied depth for your slar, place poleythene then use steel mesh raised off the polythene with bits of briken flags and pore concrete. trowel finish and (the important part) retire to the pub and bore everyone to tears about it.
good luck
