ive came across old brick pipework in lengths of 1 ft approx..anyone any info ,drainage pipes possibly...squared edges but round inside..quite old...any info appreciated.

theyre possibly old field drainage pipes, usually are similar to what you described

ye sounds like old land drains
are they yellow by any chance?
you often find these on old agricultural land
if they are about 3 inches square i wouldnnt worry too much as they have probably silted up by now
got a picture??

thanx for the replies folks, i dont have a photo but thats what they must be,found them at edge of a field,must have been dumped years ago by a farmer ,they are orange in colour,are they worth anything?shame to see them wasted..anyone collect them?

not worth a carrot mate i have chucked hundreds away,
i built a wine rack out of about 40 we dug up once but these had 3" holes in them,item of interest only really
