quick one for my first post..
building raised beds with reclaimed mixed stock, 6 bricks high. do i need to paint or line the inside with waterproofing (bitumen) before filling with soil??

not completely necessary -- but the bitumen will keep minerals from crystalising on the outside of the planter, and will help keep the water from seeping out.
If you can, find a bitumen emulsion, as it won't leach nasty vapours into the potting soil...if you've as much problem keeping green things alive as I do, you need all the help you can get!

i have built my herb gardens ,without bitumen but you will get some efflorescence,but to me it gives this type of project an antique kinda look
make sure the bricks are not too soft or the frost will get them
