Do i need to worry about water run off?

Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

Hi,

Forgive me for asking potentially a dumb question as I am a novice DIY-er.

I have a garage at the end of my back garden and I plan to pave the parking area immediately adjacent to it (currently gravel). The area is approximately 4x4 metres.

I think I will block pave (no previous experience) but hope to learn enough from this excellent site.

I am unsure what I need to do with regard to storm water run of or drainage - if anything.

I know that I will need some kind of linear drain at the threshold of the garage to stop water running into the garage (the ground slopes toward the garage). I expect that all the water collected on the new paving will find its way into the linear drain that I would install but what to do with the water then?

Now the dumb question.. I go through a small private residential car park to gain access to the rear of my garden. The car park has a couple of drains in the middle of the area, can I run my water into this area? Over the car park? Cannot imagine there would be water gushing from my paved area as its quite small but might be completely wrong.

I have drawn something to help explain what I mean. I think what I intend to do is OK but do not want to break any law or rules. This is like having a front drive slope down and having water run off into the street drains - i think!?
