The cottage walls are 3 foot thick Cotswold stone with no DPC ( something the builders did not think about 200 years ago I suppose) At the rear of the cottage I plan to lay a patio but can I lay the stone right up to the wall ? There is a concrete slab (raft) which goes right up to the wall, this is not original of course and is not too pretty, hence the reason for the stone patio to match the cottage.
One further point on the buildings construction there are no "traditional" foundations to the building. The land was just leveled and the stone walls where started 3-4ft wide at the base narrowing to 2ft ish at the top (roof level)
Your advice would be very welcome.
Many Thanks
Louie
