The customer has a sceptic tank which drains into what I presume is a leach field. The inspection pit in the leach field is over flowing. I have broken into the drainage system below the inspection pit. Un-perforated land drain pipe work is what I toiok out. The hole back filled to the brim with effluent.
Is thios likely to be a blocake or a leach field system that has started to fail. And in either case has any one any advioce on how I might proceed?

If an IC within a leach field is surcharging, then there's a big problem. I can't say whether it's due to a blockage, deterioration of the field, or a combination of factors. all you can do is investigate further, using cctv if necessary to track the problem, and dig a few trial holes to examine the condition of the sub-grade.
