Hi,
I have a 1935 property with a cesspit for waste water, and a connected soakaway.
My problem is that the system keeps backing up, and when looking under the soakaway cover the pit is filled with water to a pretty high level. So I'm guessing that as it is original it is probably past its best!
I need advice on how to rectify this problem:
1. How can I stop solids getting through into a new soakaway, to prolong its life,
2. Should I build another similar soakaway, or given the volume of water created by a family of 3, soon to be 4 should I opt for a land drain system using the perforated pipes over a wider area?
I would be grateful for any advice you can offer?
Thanks
Simon
