I have a lane next to my house and the plot at the top has recently been purchased by an individual to build a private dwelling on. I have been approached to connect to my sewer, thus avoiding connection in the road, which I understand requires registered contractors and havin the road closed. This will obviously save him £££. I am happy for him to do this, although I assume I need to have a legal document drawn up regarding responsibility etc? Also he has asked me to let him know how much I would like. I have no clue. Can anyone give me some guidance please (Im a single mum).
Many thanks.

PS excavation from my boundary would be no more than 2m

I've seen fees ranging from 200 quid to 100,000 pounds. It all depends on how much you can screw out of the would-be connectee, which is usually afigure estimated to be around 50-75% of the cost of making a formal connection in the public highway. I would suggest you contact a drainage speciliast and/or a structural surveyor in your area who can advise you once they've seen the site.
