Just wondering if any of you fellas can give me some advise about laying a concrete pad for a wooden garage.
The garage measures 12' x 22' and the people that are making it have told me I need a 6" thick concrete pad that is half inch smaller than the garage dimensions.
I thought it would just be a case of levelling the ground I want to do the pad on, putting shuttering up, getting some redimix poured in and tampering level.
However, I'm now wondering whether I need to put some hardcore down and dpc. Any advise about the best but most cost effective way to do it would be. Also, how much should I expect to pay for redimix for a pad that size and do I ask for anything specific when ordering the redimix.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Ta, Paul

ideally you will have 100mm of type 1 or finely graded hardcore 35 mm down to dust ,which is wackered then a blinding of soft sand 10-20 mm,then your 1200 gauge visqueen membrane ,then your 150 of concrete
personally i always use 100mm square mesh in a garage floor and would order pave mix concrete (strong with fibres) you need approx 4.6m3 which should cost around £ 500 depending on your locale
cheers LLL :)

Just one more thing. We have an aggregatee pit near us that I got some 20mm gravel from previously, they must do crushed hardcore, the only thing is, how much do I need to do the above as I dont want to just guess and go and get half a ton or something stupid!
thanks, Paul
