I have an old cracked manhole cover which is 20" x 20" is this possible to replace or will I have to rebuild the recess to metric?

You should be able to find an equivalent. Try
www.manholecovers.co.uk as they have very comprehensive stocks of all shapes and sizes. (Famous last words alert!) ;)

Tony,
Thanks for posting up that link, was just trying to look up replacement covers for a couple of odd size concrete lids in a driveway and saw your link. spot on.

Not the Briercrete ones, was it? They ceased production about 18 months ago and it's been a real problem finding new covers. Cooper Clarke in Bowt'n had some, but I'd guess thay've all gone by now - I wonder if they're left with a pile of useless frames? ;)

Tony,
Not sure of make of covers, but client wanted to change to steel / iron instead of concrete. Been having a few drain blockages and found it a real stuggle to lift covers out.
Located close enough size of medium duty iron ones ( hope they are a bit lighter !! ) on manholecover.co.uk - being delivered tomorrow. £ 12.00 carrage , but don't take long to cost that chasing about looking.
