We have recently had paving work done on the frontage of our property (see image) and when we mentioned to the builder that it was a wonderful job (which it really is) apart from the obvious slant on the right hand side he said this was to do with drainage. Anyone know of any measurement which is used for this purpose on a paved area? We are trying to have the right hand side redone as the rest is very acceptable.

Yes, I am talking about the slant in the concrete paving. The tarmac is now a problem too as they have patched it up pretty badly. My husband says it is the little brick wall which was constructed to hold the slabs which was not done correctly (Four brickies came out to do this and then left it to Sandy to finish off with the paving).
It is such a small measurement (maybe an inch). Do you think there is any possibility they can correct the right hand side without having to redo the entire thing? The left hand side and middle section are lovely. We are at present waiting to hear from the builder as he has been informed we are not happy with the slant.

It should be fairly simple to lift the paving and re-lay it to a level that matches that on the opposite side. It might mean there is a wide joint between the top of the little retainer wall and the underside of the paving, but you'd have to get down on your hands and knees to see it.
Making the bitmac look presentable is more of a problem. I can't tell much from that photo, but if the bitmac has already been 'patched', attempting further beautification is likely to make matters worse, not better, unless they elect to use a re-surfacing compound which can be thought of as a 'paint' for tidying up tired-looking bitmac.
