Drainage on a soggy clay plot

Hi,
I have a sloping clay plot which although quite beautiful in summer is quite soggy in winter! It is probably sloping at about 15% on average although much higher in places so I would have thought drainage would not be a problem. Not so, in places on the slopeing garden it is really very soggy and so I am considering piutting in some sort of 'strategic drainage plan'. I should say I have an alterior motive in that [see my posting on water-scaping!] I wish to supply an old pond at the bottom of my plot to keep it full. I have read on the site about several different types of drainage but Im new to this game and would appreciate some suggestions, especially since I am on clay and I suspect this might complicate matters?

Picking up on my comments to your post in the water-scaping thread, I think you need to bring in a specialist contractor. It's just not possible for me to tell you how to survey a site, how to calculate and determine groundwater regimes, how to plan drainage and balancing ponds, where to position pipe runs, leach fields, access chambers, silt traps, etc., when I cannot see the site and when I have to type out everything.

What you are asking is for a professional consultancy service, which goes beyond what's available in this forum. You need a site survey by a professional.

Not off the top of me head. Try asking at a local Builders Merchants - they usually know who's best at what in their area.
