Highway draining into my garden

Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

After my 'firm' letter to the Highways Manager of the local council, I had a site meeting yesterday with the Development Control Engineer. He's suggested chaging the footpath again, so that the back (ie where it meets my land) is higher than the front, rather than the current 'domed' arrangement; and to do it in such a way as to ensure next-door's runoff doesn't end up in my garden either.

This means that they'll create a ramp on my driveway. They'll do this on their own, but have also said that they'll coordinate with me redoing my drive if I want them to, which will save them some materials and means I won't end up with an ugly tarmac strip.

So far so good.

So I'll allow any surface water to drain through the gravel and sub-base, as before, but this time it will only be water that falls on my land, not all my neighbours too.

Many thanks for all your help.

Neil

Good to hear you're getting somewhere with this one, Neil. Any idea when work is scheduled to start?
