We recently laid a large area of cobble stones to some borders adjoining a large paved area on a barn conversion. Marshalls green contour cobbles - 75-120mm sized.
I have some borders to my driveway of which I have no interest in planting up etc - it really needs to be low maintenance!
Trouble is, these green cobbles aren't available off the shelf, no BM keeps them and they are only obtainable by the pallet (48 bags) from Marshalls. That would be costing me over £500.
Local TP are going to call the Marshalls rep tommorrow and see if he knows of anybody with some surplus stock - I reckon I need about 25 bags total.
Here's the stone in question in one of my planters, I really like the look of them - when they get wet they go really green.
If Marhsalls can't come up with the goods, does anybody have any pointers for a similar sized stone?

Ah Stonemarket available through Bradfords 
Bit smaller bit think they'll do the job!

Well I've done all the garden centres and DIY stores to no avail.....
Bradfords are my last chance, if they have any stock at a branch somewhere.

Marshalls have made all their decorative aggregates available on their order select service. A merchant can now order as little as one bag (23kg) from Marshalls. There is a premium attached to this service, but it will be much cheaper than buying a full pallet. All merchants should be aware of the service. If you still have problems please contact the Marshalls customer help line on 0845 820 5000.

Hi David - thanks for your reply.
I have been in contact with Marshalls via our local BM (Buildbase) and have enquired about the order select service - trouble is, buying 25 bags on order select is almost as cheap as buying a pallet locally. The order select service stock comes from Ipswich (??) and attracts a £70 delivery fee.
I can collect a pallet of cobbles from Bleadon, locally for just the cost of fuel! So might be going with the full pallet route now........

ye it did have a "spiel" feel to it ,nevertheless it was relevant
those cobbles do look nice as it goes,i wonder who sets the fashion in the paving industry??
got me thinking there....
is it tv,or manufacturer's magazines??

Well, I am left with no alternative to take the plunge and buy a pallet from Marshalls (48 bags)
It's cheaper that way by some margin. If I have any over, they can be used elsewhere, I'm sure.
It's just that £420 sounds a lot to stone up the borders etc!

ROFL - fine idea, got a huge heap of the stuff at the yard but I don't like the colour!!!
It's just me being a bit tight y'see........but I sold some engine parts I had shacked up in the shed for £300+ so it's not too bad......
These cobbles will finish off the front driveway nicely, I have no time for the borders and gardening etc!

A contractor we subbied to while I was serving me time had a big pile of broken out kerb bed and haunching piled up where the lawn used to be at his home. We went round there one day with him while he picked up a bit of kit from the garage and his missus came out, giving him no end of grief about the vans, wagons and rollers parked on the drive, the two packs of 3x2s leaning against the house and the state of the front garden.
"Ye've heard of a rockery", he said to his beloved, "well, that is what's known as a concrete-ery, and aren't you very lucky to have one!" :laugh:

Well, I got a pallet in the end (ouch) and did the job yesterday, with 7 bags to spare. Looks great, zero maintenence garden borders
