Hi all,

As I have some free time with the lockdown going on at the minute I have decided to lay a new patio out my back garden. I have ordered the Kendal Grey Smooth Honed sandstone with the sawn sides (that's the description on the web site I bought them).

Question I have is should I seal the slaps on the front, back and sides before I lay them? I have read that the honed/sawn sandstone can be very porous and if not sealed then stains can appear on the top of the slab from moisture/salts from the mortar underneath after you have laid them.

Be great if you have some advice thanks 👍🏻

Is that really "Kendal" or could it be "Kandala", which is a well-known Indian sandstone?

Personally, I'm less convinced that Kandala needs a sealant, but I know some installers prefer a sealed finish.
