Hi guys

Apologies if this all is a bit basic but I'm a novice when it comes to this sort of stuff. I have just had a new patio laid (Indian stone) along with other bits of landscaping from a very well reviewed local firm. Had absolutely no problems during the work, nothing was too much trouble.

However when it was finished I was told just hose down the stone after a couple of days and brush off any debris. I did that but noticed marks on the stone, and I came to the conclusion that it was left from the pointing debris on the stone.

I was naturally very concerned so contacted the guys and they popped round to look at it (I wasn't present) and phoned me to confirm it is just from the pointing and it should disappear in a couple of weeks. If not, let them know and they will come and remove it.

All sounds good but I'm concerned this is damaged and might not be repairable. I have faith that the company will do everything they can to put it right, but another opinion on any potential solution would be great.

it looks like a bit of resin from the pointing,and yes it will weather away
what did they use?

it looks like a Polymeric, and these sort of stains will soon weather away, along with the pointing :;):
its just about OK for light traffic areas but dont start jetwashing it

That particular product has a bit of a reputation for leaving transient stains in its wake. A distributor that used to stock it told me the supplier/manufacturer had suspended installation advice in the wake of a glut of complaints about it staining, and in particular, staining pale hued porcelains. Go figure!

However, as LLL says, that residual resin should, with a bit for warmth and sunshine, weather away in a few weeks.

Hi there,

I was about to start a topic about this, I too have just recently have had the same problem on my newly installed granite patio.

Used Joint It compound dark Grey Followed the instructions to the tee and itâ€™s left a horrible stain, looks like an oil slick which has had me concerned.

Iâ€™ve never come across anything like Joint it that can stain a new patio so badly I would post pics of mine but I donâ€™t know how to however I have a question is there any cleaning substance or method that can get rid of these stains or do I have to wait for the sun to weather it.???
