I am in dispute with a local contractor who installed approx. 200 square meters of granite paving. The installation was in mid-2016 and the dispute has progressed to The Small Claims Court. The Court directed that we appoint a building surveyor but we have been unable to identify a suitable surveyor who is prepared to prepare a report for the maximum fee of £750, inclusive of VAT.

The reason for my post is to ask for recommendations of a suitably qualified or experienced individual who could prepare a report on the patio that is suitable to be used in the Court proceedings. The maximum that can be paid in the Small Claims Court is £750. I am in Dorking in Surrey.

I won't go into the dispute in this forum as I do not wish to prejudice the matter. The expert needs to be independent and not tainted with anything I might say.

I will need to put forward a few names so please feel free to recommend more than one individual or firm

Have you tried going to the manufacturer of the paver as many have installer networks, and case managers in the event of disputes

I prepare CPR35 reports for court disputes. I recently completed one in Sussex and, including travel and the site assessment, the cost was just under 700 quid.
