Hi all,
I have recently completed a large extension and now need to lay a patio. My patio area is about 40m2 across the back and another 25m2 down the side of the house. I intend to lay Indian sandstone at the back and basic utility slabs around the side.
The rubble from the back of the house and the existing patio was used as foundations which was covered with MOT type 1 and then compacted so it is in theory ready to lay on.
My question is this, would it be ok to leave the project until spring? I am not the best at DIY and regardless of how many youtube videos I've studied, the size of the patio make this feel like a daunting prospect so I don't want to rush it. As you can imagine due to the size of the area I'm looking at paying a professional ££££'s which I just can't afford after the completion of the extension. I don't want to rush it at this stage of the year given that we'll hardly be likely to use it until spring.
I did attempt to make a start in July but it was just so hot it wasn't worth laying mortar which would likely crack due to the heat. A couple of people feel it should be ok to leave and drainage wouldnt be an issue but I would really appreciate the thoughts of the experts here.
Many thanks
Dave
