As the title states, I'm after some recommendations for a good piece of CAD software for patio layouts.

No CAD program will automatically design unique patio layouts. You have to either build up a library of paving materials and program the system to use these as a hatch pattern; design individually so you get a unique design for every project rather than the "same old same old" that comes with a hatch pattern; or rely on some of the free software packages provided by manufacturers which, again, is essentially a hatch pattern program.
I've been doing this for almost 30 years and I find that individual design based on a H-U-G-E library of paving materials and then essentially placing each piece individually gives not only a unique result each time but mjinimises cutting and wastage, and allows me to factor in any particular wishes from the client.
