Hi all. I'm wanting to replace my current patio with Geoceramica slabs and need a question about the sub base clearing up if anyone can help. Current patio is 20 sqm. 3 sqm has a type 1 sub base with about 50mm of sharp sand topped with a thin layer of mortar. The rest is about 120mm of sharp sand with mortar. Patio has remained level over 9 years and drains well as it's on a natural fall away from the house. The geoceramica site mentions you can lay them direct onto gravel or sand but most other advice I've read about paving says it all needs to be on around a 75 - 100mm sub base with a layer of sharp sand and 40mm of mortar. I'd appreciate any advice and views on whether I'd be able to lay direct as is or need to put in full type 1 sub base. Thanks
