Hi all
This is a weird one the pointing has broken down in about three places it’s only been pointed a couple of weeks.
I thought it may be a rocker that’s cracked the jointing as the lady did stood on one not long after it had been laid no movement at all.
I looks like it’s turned to sand can push a screwdriver straight into it and into the bedding but there only about 300 mm long and either side is solid this area was where I actually started the pointing so it’s not as if it’s been awhile since it was mixed it’s fresh.
But a lots of dog urine Stains.
Is it possible that after I finish pointing the dog has peed on it a couple of places it’s a big dog big pee before it is set and has attacked the cement just can’t make this one out?
The paving is Brazilian black slate laid on 6 inches of compacted type I
Bedding 6 to 1 sharp sand laid wet full bed 35 to 50 mm and a bond bridge mixture to the back of slabs prior to laying
Pointing mix 4 to 1 soft sand, semidry with plasticiser. Whilst pointing I continually misted the area.
The area i’m talking about was at the start of the pointing so a fresh mix was being used, also the customer had pre-wetted the paving the previous night.
What do you normally use when pointing plastering sand or floor sharp or a mixture with soft.
Your advice is much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Mark
