Hi - I am planning a flagged area in my garden, with gutters between the flags. What I have in mind is that the flags are 50 mm apart, and a 75 mm gutter is formed in the concrete below. The gap is enough to see the water flowing, but not enough to be a trip hazard. The fall will be about 1:50. Total area 30 - 40 m2. The water will flow to a cistern (to feed a water feature) and any excess will flow to a soakaway.

Does anyone have any experience with this or a similar design? Comments and advice appreciated.

This seems a nonsensical idea, if you don't mind me saying. The surface water will flow across the flags without any need for a complicated 'gutter' between them. What advantage does the gutter bring?
