Hi I wondered if I could ask some advice, I've had a landscape architect design our garden and it has quite a contemporary feel to it (see charlotte rowe style garden). I was thinking of using sawn york stone which seems to look very nice initially but then weathers to look more rustic and less contemporary. Would anybody have any recommendations regarding stone? There will be a decking, probably yellow balau and also a lawn. Thanks

any sawn sand stone product will require more maintenance than porcelain paving which is available in a variety of colours and sizes to give you the contemporary finish you are looking for ...
it has a very low porosity so any BBQ fat red wine or grime will simply wipe off the surface

Porcelain is pricey....but not as pricey as sawn Yorkstone, assuming it *is* genuine yorkstone. Much of the sawn stone out there is relatively soft imported pavings which have a predilection for turning very green very quickly in our damp climate.
All of which brings us back to porcelain.....
