I'm planning to put in a sandstone patio - 5 x 5m with two sides bordered by the house and the other two bordering the lawn.
The issue I have is that the lawn is at the same height as the maximum height at the house wall (2 bricks under DPC) - so if I give it a standard run-off of 1:60 away from the house, it will end up around 2 inches below at the lawn. I'd rather not have to slope the lawn down to meet the patio. So my Q's:
- is it acceptable to slope the patio towards the house (with a gravel line at the house end? Would a surveyor be happy with that?
- should I slope it both ways with the high spot in the middle?
Sandstone patio - drainage help please - Grass same level as max height at house

Whether you slope towards to garden and have a low kerb riser up to the lawn, or fall back towards the house, use a linear channel (or a slot drain) to collect surface water run-off and you'll have no problem from even the most anal surveyor
