Hi all.

I am currently planning our new rear patio and want to clear a few issues up, any help would be great :)

The height of the patio needs to be approx 350/400mm off the ground which will mean the top of the patio will sit nicely at 150mm below the dpc.

So, I intend on using a double skin blue brick to create the 3 retaining walls. Then I will remove the topsoil / clay within so that I am down to good solid Base.

What will I then use to fill the lot? The size will be approx 8mX4m so quite large. I have searched and some posts say to fill with hardcore, and some say MOT1. Now I am confused.

Once filled and compacted I will install the flags using a mortor Base.

I will incorporate the appropriate fall running away from the house to the lawn, (approx 50mm)

I am also confused about whether the flags should go straight up to the rear wall of my house, or is it best to have a few inches of gravel between the wall and the new flags?

Thanks for reading, I just want to clear these few issues up before I begin and then realise I have questions haha
