The building contractor has now removed the grout that stained the slabs (Geofix grouting for flamed granite in a light grey - see my earlier post) and needs to re-grout the entire area, some 200 m2.
The slabs are laid on a solid concrete base so the GtfK products are not suitable as there is nowhere beneath the slabs for water/moisture to run off.
The contractor has suggested Mapei Ultracolour Plus

Has anyone had any experience of this product? The spec on their website appears to tick all the boxes and it has the benefit of coming in various colours
Any comments will be much appreciated

Also got a question for Aztec
Do you advise that Easyjoint can be used when the sub-base is concrete?
The principal is that the sweep in products are porous so water can absorb through the jointing gap and settle in the bed and then cause the slabs to lift during frost. The principal makes sense but is it likely to happen?

Good Morning London Stone,
It really depends how strong or weak the sand to cement ratio is, we recommend a 6:1 base or weaker for EASYJoint. That's for our traditional method which uses water.
You can apply EASYJoint dry or nearly dry using a minimum amount of water in the application but the paving must be sealed before using this method to reduce any likelihood of staining.
If you are sealing the paving before EASYJoint application, leave it 2 - 3 days for the sealer to have fully dried and make sure the sides are sealed as well as the top.
If possible we recommend sealing the slabs on all six sides (particularly with sensitive stones like Granite, Modak and Black Limestone) before installation; there have been cases for example where granite has drawn contaminates up from slab base mixture all the way to the top of the paving and stained it.

there is no reason why you cannot use GftK 850 2 part grout on a conrete base, the water comes to the top as you wash it in no issues, same as marshalls weatherpoint 365 again ive used on concrete base no proble the wash in water comes to top and drains away the water has no effect on the product at all, i would use 1 of the above no problem, no staining no need to seal first MSH
