Help, I have just finished pointing a patio of indian paving using a black dye in the mortar and it looks fantastic.Only problem is 24hrs later the customer informs me of her dislike to it. Is there any way of reducing the colour safely by means of bleach or brick acid etc without having to grind it all out aaahhhhrrrr !!

did she ask you to use black dye?
i know the gaffer likes it, but i hate using dyes in mortars
if she asked you to do it then its on her, but it will be a right pain chiselling it all out

well spent the whole day grinding out am now black and fed up but i have a nice cold beer in hand won't make that mistake again .when a customer says whatever you think looks nice .....dont take this literally

Whenever a customer says "whatever you think looks best", get it in writing!
I do hope you charged her for the re-think. My interpretation of it would be that this is a design change requested by the client and is therefore chargeable. You did as originally requested, and the re-pointing was done on aesthetic grounds, not structural, so she should be getting her chequebook out.

thank you for your response i have learnt a valuable lesson.Rather than pursue money for extra work i am calling it a day as i know i will fall out with them.After grinding out, re pointing and power washing the job looks well thankfully.
