Hi

We have an issue with some limestone paving. They have suddenly started to turn black. The slabs were fine all winter (laid new November last year) and they are close to a silver birch tree but not all slabs (near the tree) have the black staining. We did weed and feed around 6 weeks ago.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Patrick

Could be Lichen, have you tried cleaning them ???
Bleach is as good as anything. Try a test area first.

It could well be Lichen, or even sap/tannin staining from the Birch tree, a photo would be good before you go any further though.

Hi

Thanks for your suggestions :) Have some pics but can't find a way to upload them from my pc:(

Will try bleach, also thought about investing in this "the patio black spot remover". Any feedback on this product?

Thanks

Patrick

Really do need to confirm what the stain is first, which is why I said if you can post a photo before you go any further.
If it is Lichen, then a bleach mix will be fine and I can give the ratios to use it at, but need to see the stain first.

Most post photos via photobucket.

Relatively expensive and not always effective.

What colour was the limestone paving to start with? Yellow, Black or Grey/Blue?
