Hi,
I have just finished laying my sandstone patio which looks good. It's about 24 sq.M.

I have used Indian sandstone on full mortar bed. I am planning on using Marshalls Weatherpoint 365 but from experience using a similar cheaper brush in product in the past on an old patio this left a grease looking type mark round the edge of the slabs. I did not water the patio down when I did this before though?! Don't want to ruin my sandstone.

Reasons for using;
Time - need to get the garden project completed before our next baby arrives
My gaps are not all consistent - some small ones ( fail but it is what it is)
Consistency of colour and being honest I'm no pro at pointing, I'm quite anal about these things and I'll get mortar everywhere!
Ease - I'm not going to lie I've found it tough work laying this patio

Thoughts welcome

Oh and can anyone recommend a good patio sealer?

waetherpoint is almost idiot proof,make sure the surface is very wet when you brush it in,also I like to run a jointing iron over it to make sure the joints are full
with 10mm joints I aim for approximately 7-9M2 per tub so I would buy 3 tubs and see how you get on
you do get a sheen from the resin but this doesnt last long

sealers : lithofin MN stainstop
dry treat are 2 I have used with success in the past
but sealing too soon can wreck a great patio
you need at least 6 weeks from installation and after that 4-5 days of warm no rain weather
not always easy in the UK

That's reassuring, thanks for the FB. Been trying to get hold of 365 but not many places seem to stock it, which is odd as it seems a top product. Bit steep being Â£50 per tub but then you only get what you pay for. My local Jewsons seem to sell it so will get down there.

Thanks for the pointers on the sealing of the patio. I have been told to leave it for a while (6 months I was told) to allow for the natural salts etc to come out first. As ever contradicted by someone else who said seal it straight away with a porous sealer!!! I think ill take your advice and leave for a month or two then seal !!!

4-5 days of dry weather...... that will be like waiting for a solar eclipse wont it ha ha.

your not wrong!
but as said by me elsewhere the main purpose of your patio is to sit on it and have a few scoops and a chat

its a functional thing first and foremost

sealing can be a bit OCD
