hi

i'm planning on laying some camel dust aka sunset buff aka kotah desert on my patio at the weekend. from what i gather they are one of the more denser slabs.

would i need a sbr bond briudge on these to stop stains from the mortar bed coming through the slabs? and would a bond bridge be rerquired if i'm laying them on a 6:1 wet bed?

also if it's recommended to use one how much working time do you get for adjustiong slabs once laid? i'm a beginer and there random sizes and so there's likely to be a bit of adjustment at first until i find my rythm.

any advice appreciated.

I happily lay lots of kandla grey which is a similar hard sandstone without one and have never had problems with staining or adhesion.

If you want to belt and braces I would simply add some sbr to your mix. 100ml per gauge is probably about right and will help adhesion.

Making sure slabs are not bone dry when laying and pointing helps reduce staining as the flag is damp and therefore not absorbing water viciously which can draw cement into the flag.

A nice full bed is the way to avoid the type of patchy drying on some of the recent threads.
