Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting on here so apologies if this topic has been covered many times in the past.
So we recently had a Indian sandstone patio laid and noticed that there were marks showing through afterwards. I thought this would go away after the patio had dried out but sadly not.
After doing some research on this site I believe this has been caused by spot bedding and my question to all the patio experts out there is can anything be done to rectify this?
Any suggestions or advice would be really appreciated.

Check out my post 'advice needed on new patio' - looks like the same symptom and the only way to solve is a relay with the hope that a full bed would even out the appearance.

I have read the post thanks.
Having seen other examples it could be worse ours only show the spots when damp, if rainy or a warm dry day it doesn't show.
It was laid about 4 weeks ago so with that in mind if we were to consider taking it up would this make it any easier to avoid damaging the slabs or does it not make any difference how long it has been down?

Think it's well set by then. Strange though mine show when dry. When wet I can't see a difference.

Really that's strange.
Are you going to have yours re laid? I see you used a contractor.
We used a close family friend who is a general builder by trade he has been doing patios for a while however I believe this is the first time he has done an Indian sandstone patio and with the slabs being so porous he wasn't to know.
I can't fault the patio in any other way as he was meticulous and the finish is great apart from the spots.
I am going to tell him this weekend we can live with ours as they can't be seen all of the time but if he does another patio like this in the future he will have to use a full bed.

Rich doesnt look a horrific job,but he has spot bedded,also he has a lot of straight lines and crosses (where 4 corners meet)
however if it does the job for you just enjoy it!

Yes you are right and overall we are happy with it.
I guess it's worth pointing out that this was a genuine mistake not everyone is a cowboy just because a job doesn't go 100% to plan.
Not a huge consolation but I am sure it won't happen again in the future.
He is pretty mortified especially being a close friend he thought that by doing it the method he did the weight of the slabs would cause the cement to flatten down and cover the whole area.
I guess this only happens to the more porous slabs like Indian sandstone?
