first off thank you tony for sorting out my registration problems, advice i need is regarding pointing that has been done recently, guy doing it picked a lovely day, blue sky warmish ( for feb) so got on with the job, grey sandstone with a black dye to darken the pointing. 80 sqm to do so did some and sods bloody law 1 solitary black cloud appeared and dumped on the job for about 10 mins solid heavy rain. pointing now in that area has turned a lighter colour. is there anything that can be done to rescue it?
cheers wayne

not a lot, if you are doing any mortar pointing you either need cover or a very warm guaranteed sunny day
I have been caught in the past and its not nice
on the plus dye the black dye fades within around 6-12 months anyway

Rarely go down the sand and cement route due to this very issue Weatherpoint 365 or vdw 840 all the way

ok so its got to come out, which of the products is the better/easier to use? just read that the vdw 840plus bumf reckons not to use pressure washer on it.

you can use a pressure washer but not to hold the lance 50mm from the surface at a 90 degree angle or you will/can blast any type of pointing out of the joints, that's why its recommended to use the rotary attachment to the end of the pressure washer lance
