Hi, I am after some advice before going ahead with a 42 M2 patio project at home. We were looking at indian sandstone paving but my wife saw the black slate and decided she wanted black to contrast with our white rendered house wall. I have looked into black limestone and decided to avoid it. Black slate (chinese) seems the only other choice. Has anyone any tips/advice about this choice before I go ahead with the purchase? Prices I have is £321 for a 17.7 M2 project pack although the price per M2 might work out slightly more.

I am getting a company to do the work but want to make sure they install it correctly and also any advice regarding longevity/UV fade/slipperyness etc etc.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a good price, maybe too good! Check them for delamination and flaky surface.

Shouldn't have any fading issues as with limestone, and keep em clean to avoid slippy.

Contractor should paste the back of them with SBR slurry or similar to ensure a sound bond between slab and mortar mix.

Quote came back at £900 for 45 m2 delivered hence £20/m2. I will go to showroom and have a look at tiles to check for delamination. I read about the SBR on here so would make sure they do that. Just waiting for quote for everything barring the pavers. One guy mentioned about the Easyjoint stuff which again I have read about on here and sounds like a good option. More expensive to buy but saves on time when compared to wet mortar jointing and is supposedly better and cleaner. Thanks for advice.
