I have a back yard (good access) in a property that I am doing up that is York stone. As I need to level the yard and I wish not to have issues with stone being stolen once it is let, am going to replace the stone with concrete. (Sorry nice stone does not get me more rent in that area!)

There seems to be 101 companies that will come and lift the stone and claim to pay a good price.

How do I choose a company?

I am concerned that as soon as a company comes round to tell me how much they will pay, that the property will then be targeted to have the stone stolen – so I only wish to deal with a recommended company.

they don't have to call round to see the flags they can give you a guide price depending on the condition and quality, I use a guy who will collect the flags from your job and he covers all of the north west

You should be able to tell from their website if they area reputable company. Reclamation companies will often have pictures of their yards on their websites. Use your best judgement.

Also take a few good photos of the stone and email across for a rate before you give them the address. That process should weed out any chancers
