When the stalks from my magnolia tree drop onto my Indian Stone flags I get brown stains in the flags. I have tried to get them out with fairy liquid and startdrops with no success. Could anyone tell me how I can get these stains out of the stone and then if it is possible how best to seal the stone in the area of the tree to stop the staining?

Hello

I would try outdoor cleaner from Lithofin. ITs designed to remove stains caused by vegetation and leaf litter and basically anything organic.

Instructions to use are as follows:

1. Pour onto the affected area.
2. Scrub in with a deck brush
3. Leave for 20 minutes
4. Jet wash the area off
5. You may need to repeat the process a few times to get the desired result

Even if you seal the stone you will still get the marks but the sealant will prevent the stains from absorbing deep into the capillaries of the stone (this is what has happened with the current stains and is why its so difficult to remove).

What colour Indian Sandstone do you have in the garden?

Cheers
Steve

Ok, well that's a very hard stone, very dense. You can sometimes find that the impregantors (sealants) struggle to absorb into the denser stones. be sure to wipe off any excess sealant with a cloth to avoid a glossy look on the stone. Which products are you considering?

If you could recommend the stain remover and clear sealer products you would use on my stone I would appreciate it.

The stone cleaner product cleaner is called outdoor cleaner and is supplied by a company called lithofin.

As regards to sealants I always recommend a product called stain proof supplied by Dry Treat but in the past I have also used Stain stop by lithofin. There are a myriad of other sealants available but these are the two that I have the most experience with.

google search both and you will find local stockists
