Hi first of all thank you what a great place this been reading through for the last couple of weeks and the info I have got from here is outstanding.

Anyway im now confused as to what to do re my sub base

I was just going to use concrete at 75 to 100mm then a full cement bed of 40mm for the Indian sandstone. Its only a smallish patio 8 mtrs total wide then l shaping out 2 mtrs and 3 mtrs. don't mind using type 1 just thought concrete was easer and stronger. Iv read about having to add drainage if using concrete is this correct?

Type 1, quicker, cleaner and cheaper.

Could use a lean concrete. Don't know why it would need draining though, other than laying it to a fall for water run off. When your patio is laid it will be an impermeable surface anyway, that's assuming you're doing the proper thing and bedding it on mortar.

yep full mortar bed. Just thinking concrete would be stronger. On the plus side have 2+ ish ton left over from wall foundations so another 3 ton should see me done
