I have some existing concrete steps that while they aren't cracked or broken they aren't in great shape (the Mrs complains that she can't walk down them in heels!). I want to put slabs directly on top of the concrete but don't know what kind of mix/adhesive I should use. I don't want them to move when the kids run up and down them!

Hi Jack. How many steps, how high are the risers and wide are treads and will the top step compromise your door threshold of the doorway if overlayed? Finished height of each riser must be a minimum off 75ml, 150 being the ideal. You can overlay with material of your choice but must use a bond bridge on the underside of each unit. Maybe post some photo's on here.
Take a look at the building regs' part h.
In the mean time ask your missus not to use high heals on the steps :;): 
Side note: i carry my wifes heels in my 'ICE BAG' whilst she wears flop flips , or similar and change when and where ???

13 steps. Heights won't be a problem, I just want to be able to trust that they stay in place with all the foot traffic and running the wheelie bin up and down every week. Can't seem to post any pictures but will keep trying.

Ps the Mrs does have to make do, but I still get in the ear!
