Hi,
I've just had a nice new patio laid, with Indian sandstone flags, but it's been sealed by the builder with one coat of something called Cementone Resin for Blocks Matt finish, which I'm pretty sure is not meant for Indian sandstone in the first place. The result is awful - it's very dark, the finish is blotchy and there are shiny patches and puddles all over the place.
My question is - is there anything we can do to remove it, or at least undo some of the damage? All advice welcome.
Thanks
Adam

Bad times. Its expensive and time consuming to remove sealant from stone. The stuff your builder has used is completely unsuitable for the application. It says clearly on the product description that it should only be used on concrete and clay block paving
Product Details
You need to have frank conversation with your builder here because he should be footing the cost of getting this sorted out

I posted a reply to something very similar at the weekend, it is in this section of the forum have a look at I think it was for Sealant removal on Indian Sandstone.
I'm afraid this sort of thing is happening far to frequently IMO.
Some of these builders should stick to what they know and leave this sort of thing to people that know what they are doing FFS.
I did notice you are in the Wirral, if it helps I do know a company that can do this work, won't be cheap though unlike the "glue" your builder has used.

Thanks Roger, do you mean this post? :

I will point the builder in the direction of the Aqua-Mix stripper, then! Does it make a difference that the Thompsons sealant is acrylic, but I think that what we have (the Cementone) is polyurethane?
If you've got a company you can recommend, please let me know - once I see how successfully we can get this stuff off, I'll need to work out what to put back on it.
Thanks,
Adam

I really feel that this will not be a job for your builder to undertake, as once he has seen the cost of some of the items he'll most probably short-cut the process like he has with the sealing. Thompson's or Cementone both shite products & the Aqua-Mix stripper will deal with both acrylic & polythene sealers. If you want to email me your details I can email you back with the person up your way who can remove the "glue" re-clean & re-seal this for you, I don't think he would want to re-seal someone else's clean though (which I wouldn't also do) as you won't know if it has been done properly.

Yes that is the product, this is a cleaner though only, not a stripper or coating's remover.Adamtodd wrote:Hi Roger,
