Hi, I'm new to the forum but have found that the forum and site really useful so thanks to all who contribute!
I have just had a slate patio installed. The installer has used Marshalls weatherpoint for the point and it has left small stain spots all over the flags. Nothing seems to get these stains out. He has used the product many times before and followed the instructions etc.
As you canot imagine I'm not happy about this. I've spoken to Marshalls technical department who say it should weather away over time. Has anyone else encountered this? Will the staining fade? Can I do anything to help remove itag?

it wont last more than a few weeks
best to just let the good old british weather do its worst

Weather point won't leave a permanent stain.
I always use a pressure washer for the final rinse as it helps get rid of the residue from the resin.

Thanks both. One further question - I was thinking of getting the paving sealed with an impregnating sealer (it's called Nexus 410 I think). Is this likely to 'seal' the stain in or should it still weather away over time?

I would advise against sealing until the residue has gone.

Third that. slate doesn't lose it's colour or absorb water in the same way sand or limestone does.
You can see that anytime you look at an old slate roof.

Missed that one in my response (need to concentrate more) . Full agree with the other replies about not sealing slate. The only time you might seal is if you wanted to go for a wet look or if It was in an area where it is likely to get oil spills (driveway, barbecue)

Thanks for all the responses. I will have another think about sealing. I don't necessarily want a wet look but I think the paving would benefit from being a shade or two darker (i.e. closer to black than the grey which it is at the moment).
Good to know that sealing is not strictly necessary though.
